Is there any device for holding the lens where indicated by green arrow, and fixing the complex lens-camera on a tripood?

Some lenses don't have the thread and if fixing with the camera it result in unbalace, the baricentre is well out of the tripood head.

Thanks,

Fernando.

Fernando,

I take it you are concerned about the balance of the lens-camera combo on a tripod.

If that is the case, I suggest you get a tripod with a slilding shoe, which shoe attached to the bottom plate of the camera. This allows you to slilde the camera forward and back to find the balance point. This kind of shoe is used a great deal in video and is available for numerous tripods.

I would suggest a search for "tripod" with the words "bottom plate"

The Leica STA-1 rotating tripod collar was made for the 100mm APO, and will also fit the 180mm APO-Elmarit-R and with slight modification will also fit the 80-200 f/4 Vario. Burzynski also makes a rotating tripod collar for these lenses, IIRC the Burzynski products are sold by isarfoto.de
