Leitzmac Posted October 26, 2008 Share #1 Posted October 26, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello everyone, Quick question: Do Leica make a rubber hood cap for the Elmarit 28mm (hood code is 12536)? I have one for my Summicron 35mm (hood code 12526, rubber cap code 14043) and when looking at the edge of the Elmarit hood I can see lips on the edge similar to those on the Summicron hood, but when I went into my local Leica dealer they said they'd never seen one. If anyone knows whether they exist (I'm presuming they must as Leica would hardly make a hood with lips if they didn't) please let me know where I might be able to find one. Many thanks in advance. Advertisement Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 Hi Leitzmac, Take a look here Rubber hood cap for Hood No. 12536?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ibogost Posted October 26, 2008 Share #2 Posted October 26, 2008 The two hoods are identical, as far as I know. I needed a replacement hood/cap for my Elmarit hood and bought the one advertised for the Summicron, and it works perfectly.
francofile Posted October 26, 2008 Share #3 Posted October 26, 2008 The hood cap (Leica part No: 14043) is available a a single item. I got mine from Ffordes (ffordes photographic : Main Index) last year - the cost was around £16.00 including p&p. I suggest that you buy a few - they are so easy to loose!!!!! Good luck Andrew
Leitzmac Posted October 27, 2008 Author Share #4 Posted October 27, 2008 Gentlemen, Thank you for your suggestions, however, as stated I have the 14043 cap already and it is too small. My feeling is that perhaps you have the latter Elmarits (mine is a variation of the third version) which may have smaller lens hoods? I am looking for a cap to fit a 12536 hood which is quite a bit larger than the 35mm Summicron hood. A little confused.

My guess is that you'll have to chance upon the right cap somehow :-/

Latest Elmarit 28 ASPH has identical hood and cap with Summicron 35 ASPH 12526/14043 which have smaller diameter - E39. You can find hood codes here, but no caps: Home Page However I' afraid that rubber hood caps are relatively new and never made for older hoods. cbretteville Posted October 28, 2008 Share #7 Posted October 28, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm not sure if there is a hood cap for the hood that fits the E49 28 Elmarit. I never found one for the one I owned. Backing this up is Puts' page with lens/hood/cap++ details. The slot for a hood cap for this particular lens is empty: List M lenses Suggest you ask in the "collector's" forum someone is bound to have Lager a price list from the 80s when the lens was current.
