adan Posted September 16, 2008 Share #1 Posted September 16, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Little noted in the foofarah over the M8.2, Summiluxes, N0.95tilux, etc. Press releases sent by my Leica rep also announce a chrome version of the 28 Summicron. No, it won't take better pictures than the black version. It is of note that it's the first time Leica has made an M 28 in chrome since the Summarons and Hektors - early 60s or earlier. No Elmarit or Summicron before this.
Advertisement Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Hi adan, Take a look here 28 Summicron Chrome. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Guest Joachim_I Posted September 16, 2008 Share #2 Posted September 16, 2008 The interesting fact about this lens is that it is the first chrome Leica (or Leitz) lens made of aluminium and not of brass. Thus, it has the same weight as the black version. Note also the return of the chrome tab. For me, this is the most tempting of the new lenses. Adan... don't be so sure in affirming that chromes won't take better pictures...

stephan_w Posted September 16, 2008 Share #5 Posted September 16, 2008 but when it is made in aluminium, there is not the same feeling as with the other chrome lenses :-( What is the price of this lens in america?

It was emphasized in a newsletter of a large Leica dealer in Germany. Don't ask me how they do it. Joachim
Ivar B Posted September 16, 2008 Share #8 Posted September 16, 2008 It is a limited production run of only 500 lenses, so maybe this will turn into a future collectible or something, like the chrome Tri-Elmar.
stephan_w Posted September 16, 2008 Share #9 Posted September 16, 2008 Where did you see that? How do they possibly chrome aluminum? at least on the german website it is specified "Silber eloxiert", this means it is anodised aluminium (like the silver version of Zeiss), not chrome. So no chrome at all. I really regret this "cheap" way of maiking the silver variant, that has nothing to do with former chrome lenses (and cameras, of course).
