Problems with M6 meter

Friends,

I already posted this question in the German section - but nobody could help me so far.

The two red arrows in my M6 shine, but only the left one reacts to time/apertures. The right one shines all the time, so something is wrong here. Do you have experienced something similar?

Thanks in advance for your help

Michael

Look forward to the responses. No amount of new batteries nor cleaning helped in the R6.2. I think I got both arrows and the dot and the whole lot faded in a matter of minutes to zip. I figured the light meter cicuitry was cactus and it was a repair job.

Possible: dirty contacts for shutter speed dial or ASA/ISO dial.

If early-ish production, more likely: failing circuitboard, requiring replacement.

With the meter turned on, if you place a lens cap over the lens, do the LEDs blink or go dark? If they go dark, likely a failing circuitboard.

That would depend on the version of meter, some of the older ones don't blink when the lens cap is one or extreme under/over exposure.

What I was trying to get at, and didn't state clearly as clearly as I should have, is that the early meters go dark on underexposure. The later meters blink on underexposure. The overwhelming majority of reports of dead meters involve the earlier meters. Therefore, if the OP's M6 has LEDs that go dark on underexposure, it is an earlier meter and probably therefore the circuitboard needs to be replaced.

In the end, of course, what's required is diagnosis by a qualified tech who disassembles and tests the camera.
