Thomas Edwards Posted February 29, 2008 Share #1 Posted February 29, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) ...fwiw, and with all the doom and gloom of late, it is refreshing to note that leica is still considered one of the top - if not THE top - sports optics manufacturers with a reputation for innovation, quality and one of the best warranty programs around...tho the weak us dollar does not help insofar as state-side sales are concerned...useful to keep a broader perspective on the company's other successes...imho. Advertisement Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 Hi Thomas Edwards, Take a look here Leica Still Tops In Sports Optics. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
marknorton Posted February 29, 2008 Share #2 Posted February 29, 2008 Agree with you, I have a pair of 8-12 Duovids which are absolutely fantastic in the now discontinued green which matches my wellingtons - and you thought I didn't care about colour co-ordination when up to my knees in mud. LOL. If you get them dirty, you just rinse under running water. I guess there isn't the same expectation of product change with sport optics as there is with digital cameras. Buy a pair of Leica binoculars and, barring misfortune, you'll keep them for a lifetime.
Guest rontr6 Posted February 29, 2008 Share #3 Posted February 29, 2008 A friend of mine is into birdwatching, big time and he still reckons their binocs and scopes are the best, their trueness of colour is very important to him for identification. Thomas Edwards Posted March 1, 2008 Author Share #4 Posted March 1, 2008 ...all true, and then some...first with the duovids...first with the geovids...one of the first with what is regarded as the most accurate rangefinder...one of the first with the life-time passport warranty program...no wonder why naturalists, birders, sportman, etc., all consider leica to be the leader of the pack in the sports optics area...in fact, rumor has it that sports optics kept leica afloat when the company transitioned from film m's to digitals (the digilux2 being the first major success) at the turn of the century... k_g_wolf ✝ Posted March 3, 2008 Share #6 Posted March 3, 2008 >> Alessandro That´s a good idea ! My TRINOVID 8/ 32 is my theater- sportoptic for more than 20 yrs. already. Perfect. Still quite small and sometimes - during a performance - it travels a few seats to the left and to the right of me to neighbours who aks to have a try. Almost all of them are enthusiastic about what they see and sometimes consider to dump their tiny operaglasses. And, most important, with the help of proper (LEICA) binoculars you can save some $$. I can buy cheaper tickets in the rear ... Best

Is there anyone commenting the fact that the new series of Ultravids is ONLY black and not any more green? I loved that green!
ceflynn Posted March 11, 2008 Share #8 Posted March 11, 2008 I liked the green color, but not enough to buy Swarovski instead. Company Seven | Leica ULTRAVID 8 x 20 BL and 8 x 20 BR Compact Binoculars

Alessandro Fanchin Posted September 16, 2008 Share #10 Posted September 16, 2008 Finally I bought a 8x32 Ultravid HD rubber black. I guess that black is better in the theatres... Green was not available. I like green, see my web site: BEAR sas
Chuck Albertson Posted September 17, 2008 Share #11 Posted September 17, 2008 I take my Ultravids to ball games, and usually end up having to wrestle them back from anyone who borrows them for a quick look at something.
