leica dream Posted October 30, 2009 Share #1 Posted October 30, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am considering the purchase of a remote shutter release for my V-LUX1. I would use it in conjunction with a tripod when it is not appropriate to use the self-timer, (rather like the old cable releases) and probably would not need to be too far away from the camera. I am looking for a sensibly priced device for casual use. Does anyone have experience with these (good or bad) which could guide my choice? I note that Leica produce one but that may be too high spec for my needs..........or are they all much the same? Richard

Guest mc_k Posted November 2, 2009 Share #2 Posted November 2, 2009 I have had the Leica release 14076 for a couple of years and use it a lot (M8, r-d1)...it's outstanding. I wish I could find a longer version.
leica dream Posted November 3, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted November 3, 2009 Thank you. Looking at the model number of your part it is a "push" type cable release. The part quoted in the V-LUX1 manual is number 18626 CR-DC1 Remote Control Unit, which I guess is the electronic version. It is 30 cm long and can also be used to store measured values and lock autofocus. Everywhere on the internet it is posted for use with Digilux 2 & 3. Perhaps that is because the V-LUX is no longer sold. There are "compatible" versions too. The leica unit is around £40. What I am seeking is experience with ANY of these devices.
