vertekijker Posted October 12, 2009 Share #1 Posted October 12, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I ordered an M9 and am wondering which viewfinder to use for my trusted 24mm Elmarit. There are several 24mm viewfinders: - There is the original one from when the 24mm came out about ten years ago. - Then there is the D-Lux 4 viewfinder. - And the one I saw at last year's Fotokina - excellent quality, but it doesn't seem to have that little lever to secure it in place. If the differences are negligable, then the D-Lux 4 one would work just as well on the M9? Thank you for your feedback. Frans
Advertisement Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Hi vertekijker, Take a look here Which 24mm viewfinder on M9. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
EricC Posted October 12, 2009 Share #2 Posted October 12, 2009 Don't forget the Frankenfinder. OR The 21, 24, 28 Viewfinder, available in both Silver and Black.
danyves Posted October 12, 2009 Share #3 Posted October 12, 2009 The one you may have, and in any case the one with the lower price. The one with the lever is of some better security against fall out.
vertekijker Posted October 12, 2009 Author Share #4 Posted October 12, 2009 Don't forget the Frankenfinder. OR The 21, 24, 28 Viewfinder, available in both Silver and Black. The Frankenfinder I have for my WATE. I would rather use something smaller with the M9. The 21, 24, 28mm is disliked by many people for being quite inaccurate. ---------------- Frans

Leicaiste Posted October 12, 2009 Share #6 Posted October 12, 2009 I ordered an M9 and am wondering which viewfinder to use for my trusted 24mm Elmarit. If the differences are negligible, then the D-Lux 4 one would work just as well on the M9? The D-Lux 4 24mm finder also includes the frame for the 35mm, which I have found confusing. This is the one I use on the M6 and will use on the M9. You should find some second hand. lars_bergquist Posted October 12, 2009 Share #8 Posted October 12, 2009 Zeiss 25mm? The one-miilimeter difference does not mean a damn thing. The old man from the Age of Zeiss Stuff
jml Posted October 12, 2009 Share #9 Posted October 12, 2009 and this Zeiss 25mm is far better (clear and wide) than the Leica finders: only the Frankenfinder could be a competitor with the level.
peter_n Posted October 12, 2009 Share #10 Posted October 12, 2009 I sold the plastic one with the lock and bought the new metal one recently. I like to keep the finder on all the time, in the bag and out of it and the foot on plastic finders can break very easily. The new all-metal Leica VF is very snug in the shoe so no worries about not having a lock. I'm planning to get a second 24mm lens so I also recently bought the all-metal Panasonic 24mm VF to try it out. Its frameline is actually 25 mm and I agree with Lars above, the 1mm doesn't make any difference, although to me the size of the Zeiss finder does. Too big...
