jackart Posted October 12, 2009 Share #1 Posted October 12, 2009 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Leica Macro-Elmarit 45 mm F2.8 Macro is new lens for Leica, ment for M4/3 cameras. It got quite good review -- read the test (Google translated). This raises questions for me, is Leica just producing lens for M4/3 or going into this new hot class. They have now X1, witch is too close, but has no zoom. They have D-Lux 4 waiting to replace with bigger sensor compact. So, ill Leica be in M4/3 lens only or cams also in future? leicanut2 Posted October 15, 2009 Share #2 Posted October 15, 2009 (edited) I have watched your post no one has said anything. I think Leica said they won't go into 4/3 rds but I do like the gf1 and that 45mm Panasonic macro is a very nice lens for the money. It may have Leica specs but I bet it really is a panasonic who just got permission to badge it as leica. Anyway I will get the gf1 with the 20mm just to see how it performs and the 14-45mm, and the 45 that you show in the picture and the 45-200mm. There also coming out with a 100 to 300mm in 2010 thats 200-600mm in 35 format. Only lens that cost more money is the 45mm macro elmarit around 900.00 rest of them are around 350.00 bargan in this day and age. Before everyone bashes me about getting a gf1 I have a m9 on order I may have sold my other stuff but I have to have one leica M camera I am hooked on the M9 Cheers Leicanut2 Edited October 15, 2009 by leicanut2 add
jackart Posted October 21, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted October 21, 2009 DPreview reviewed it now Panasonic Leica 45mm F2.8 Macro OIS Lens Review: 1. Introduction: Digital Photography Review Conclusions: - Very good, if not quite outstanding, optics - Extremely compact and lightweight - True 1:1 macro - Reasonably effective image stabilization (but really need to use mode 1)
leicanut2 Posted October 21, 2009 Share #4 Posted October 21, 2009 Got the GF1 this week. I do like the 20mm, also picked up the 45-200 that lens is ok little soft around the 200mm range but still good for what I will use it for. Next month I will see if I can get the 45mm that one appears to be the one own. And then I won't feel bad about buying a non Leica camera, Ha (still waiting on my M9) Looks like the best on the list of micro four thirds lenses. Leica make the next X1 have interchangable lenses and offer one lens that hits 280mm with the crop factor. No need for auto focus just keep it small like the X1 Jan
barjohn Posted October 21, 2009 Share #5 Posted October 21, 2009 I think the performance as shown on DPReview is terrible for the price on this lens. I was planning on buying it until I saw the performance graphs. Even at its best aperture performance is way below the kit 14-45 zoom.
