Advertisement Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Hi sfage, Take a look here Olympus 35-100mm f/2.0. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ASpes Posted October 8, 2009 Share #2 Posted October 8, 2009 Has anyone tried the Olympus 35-100mm f/2.0 with the D3? yes, I have it and it works like a beauty. Only drawback, if any, is that the D/3 would ask for a bigger grip to feel comfortable with big&heavvy lenses like that one. But you can always get a monopod... and a suitable bag for the combo. sfage Posted October 8, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted October 8, 2009 So, you obviously need the adapter, of course. Yes?

ASpes Posted October 9, 2009 Share #5 Posted October 9, 2009 So, you obviously need the adapter, of course. Yes? If by "adapter" you mean the tripod collar that comes with the lens, it certainly helps balancing and steadying the combo when mounted on a 'pod, guess the weight could be a stress on the D/3 mount otherwise. If you use it hand-held, like I do most times, you can avoid having the collar on to lessen its weight. If you support the lens with your left hand, it's perfectly usable and steady, you just need some time to get accustomed to it. In any case, like all lenses in the Oly SHG line, optically it's at least on par with the best lenses around, on any make, and, sorry to say, worth of better sensors than the one on the D/3. Unfortunately they are not M size, but that's not Olympus fault ... Just try it and you'll love what you get.
sfage Posted October 9, 2009 Author Share #6 Posted October 9, 2009 Bill, I meant this adapter... I don't need this? 18628 Leica Adapter to use "R" Lenses on the Digilux 3 Digital SLR Camera Body and all other Four Thirds Lens Mount Type Cameras

I owned a gallery before the crunch and was lucky enough to have only signed a short lease... "whew". "That" could have made me a few tens of thousands lighter (paying out the property manager). Anyway, I have had absolutely no problem with print size. This -of course- is extremely compressed... but the point of the image is extreme detail. That's my "schtick". This is the D3 http://shanefage.ca/media/Power-Company.jpg Unfortunately, I am back in Canada where everything is pristine and spotless. Wrecked buildings and things that have been allowed to degrade over time are generally torn down in ten minutes -- after city council does their thing The one thing Alberta "does" have is landscape (which I HATE shooting) but there's little else here. We have sixty tonnes of this stuff: http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/mm317/sfage/Untitled-1.jpg That's the point of the zoom lens. I want to find mountainous vistas in dense cloud. ASpes Posted October 9, 2009 Share #9 Posted October 9, 2009 For me, I am very pleased with my D3. ... I'm pleased with my D/3 too, but I'm not the only one who would have loved a D/4, something that's unlikely to happen, seeing how the micro 4/3 has sort of "hijacked" the development from Panasonic and Leica. IMO this does not mean that the "full 4/3" is in a dead-end, but just that P and L are beating a different path. I've invested a fair chunk of money in my 4/3 equipment and it still suits me with the D/3 generation, but in general sensors have improved since 2006 so I guess a change will be unavoidable some time in the future. For bodies I mean. As for the adapter, you do not need any, the Oly 35-100 and your D/3 are both 4/3.
