Leica M8 Lens Codes That is a list of the codes and corresponding patterns which Leica uses to code lenses. Using these codes you can attempt to code your lenses yourself with a pen, although if you change lenses a lot, you might need to re-apply them often, depending on the lenses. Coding is really only necessary for 35mm and wider, and even the 35 Crons might be able to squeak by without. Leica will also factory code a lens, for a price. There are third-parties which also offer this service, usually cheaper.
