kidigital Posted October 5, 2009 Share #1 Posted October 5, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just like my previous thread on the CV50/1.1, I thought that I'd post several samples of the M9 with the 75lux because I haven't seen too many photos yet with the combination. As a caveat, the 75lux has always been one of my all-time favorite lenses. That being said, I always found the lens to be just a bit too long for me on the M8. So, I was somewhat apprehensive to try the lens on my M9 that arrived on Friday ... no one likes to see one of their favorites knocked down a peg or two. To see how the 75lux would feel on the M9 and help others decide whether or not it might be a lens they would want to consider, I thought that I'd spend some time this weekend putting together some shots in a variety of conditions. I happen to be someone that likes to shoot wide-open so most of the samples I put together are wide-open or very close to wide-open. On the M8, I used a magnifier and often struggled with pinpoint focus when using the 75lux. I didn't even need to bother on the M9 as focus was fast and accurate on the M9 ... I'm not certain why that is, but it got to the point that I didn't even think to worry about my accuracy with the 75lux. Anyway, here's the link: 75 Summilux and Leica M9 - a set on Flickr Welcome, dear visitor! yanidel Posted October 5, 2009 Share #2 Posted October 5, 2009 thanks for sharing. Exactly the rendering I was looking for. Hope my 75 Lux gets here at some point (the mailman seems a bit slow lately) Could you post a bigger image of the kids at the Football game ?
kidigital Posted October 5, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted October 5, 2009 Hi Yanidel, I added a full-size version. The only sharpening applied is that which was applied through the setting applied in C1. Kurt
yanidel Posted October 5, 2009 Share #4 Posted October 5, 2009 thanks but I believe you need to change the licence of the picture in order for others to be able to see the full size image.
kidigital Posted October 5, 2009 Author Share #5 Posted October 5, 2009 I changed the license ... not certain which box to check ... hopefully this works for you.
innerimager Posted October 5, 2009 Share #6 Posted October 5, 2009 Hi Kurt- The 75 lux is perhaps my favorite lens and I have it glued to an M7 with a 0.85 finder. One of the main incitements of the M9 for me is to have this lens at a better portrait distance than it is on the M8, I find 75mm "just right" for a lot of what I do. I can't argue with those who prefer the other 75s, especially the cron, but I find the lux to be "the 75" for me. best...Peter
yanidel Posted October 5, 2009 Share #7 Posted October 5, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I changed the license ... not certain which box to check ... hopefully this works for you. these licences are indeed puzzling but it did work. thanks a lot for that. I noticed the focal o this picture comes up at 50mm in Lightroom, is it the result of forgetting to change the manual selection menu ? I just love that look and colors, this is really a perfect match for the 35mm Lux Asph wide open. Can't wait for it to arrive.

kidigital Posted October 6, 2009 Author Share #9 Posted October 6, 2009 Good catch ... forgot to shift the manual selection in the menu. I've only had the camera a few days so it'll take some time to build some new habits. The 75lux has a classic look to the bokeh that matches up well with the 35lux ... the foundation of what I'm going to shoot with on the m9.
