TonySx Posted November 23, 2006 Share #1 Posted November 23, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Am still thinking I'd like a Leica Digilux 3 or the Panasonic equivalent. My problem is I run Windows 2000 as an operating system and so have no need whatsoever for any form of Photoshop so there's a bit of waste with the Leica. My question is what software do you get with each of these cameras for RAW processing? I've tried the SilkyPix with my Digilux 2 but it doesn't recognize the files so I guess that only comes with the Panasonic. And the Silverfast I got with the Digilux 2 doesn't seem to cope with the EXIF data. I.e the EXIF data loses the camera make with conversion to a TIFF file...... Advertisement Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 Hi TonySx, Take a look here Digilux 3 vs DMC-L1 Software. . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
miami91 Posted November 23, 2006 Share #2 Posted November 23, 2006 It doesn't come with any software for RAW processing. It comes with a version of Elements and points you towards Adobe's website for a download of the most recent version of ACR. Not sure I understand your comment about not needing Photoshop because of running Windows 2000. Are the most recent versions of Photoshop CS and/or Elements XP only? (I'm a Mac guy, so wouldn't know). Or are you saying you just have no need for the digital darkroom tools supplied by Photoshop? If it's the latter, you're certainly not forced by Adobe to use any of the tools in Elements you don't want to, so you could just use it for the basics (RAW conversion, auto levels, cropping, quick and easy "save for web", etc.).
