Advertisement Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 Hi VMPEOPLE, Take a look here summilux 50 portraits ?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
aesop Posted October 3, 2009 Share #2 Â Posted October 3, 2009 ...some would argue that it is too clinical for portraits but other are just fine with it. I own both the pre-asph and ASPH 50mm Summilux lenses and tend to favour the pre-asph for portraits, but that's just me. Â This thread should give you a better flavour of what other forum members think of the ASPH : Â http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/people/52193-summilux-50-asph.html
dpattinson Posted October 3, 2009 Share #3 Â Posted October 3, 2009 I use mine for portraits a fair bit on my M8. I like it, but I'm not overly concerned with the sharpness as I can always deal with that in post-proc if i want to, and i tend to shoot it at high iso often anyway where that becomes a non-issue. Â I tend to end up using the 35lux more often because I shoot close and I like the extra room in the shot.
hoppyman Posted October 3, 2009 Share #4  Posted October 3, 2009 hi all, is anyone using a lot summilux 50 asph for portraits....if yes...what do ya think ???  got mine recently and intend to use IT....for people and portraits on m8.2  happy !!!  cheers. vince Avoiding any subjective language, it is very suitable on the M8 in my view. Ideal for half length/ head and shoulders. If you want to be closer still then its APO 75 ASPH. brother of course is superb. The close focusing accuracy (on both) is very helpful. I prefer to capture as much detail as possible and then post process as required. That is the opposite of course to some people's preference to use softer lenses (more aberrations) for some portrait styles. This is cropped from centre. post processed for most flattering skin texture in this instance. Even super models are retouched of course. Incidentally the lovely lady subject is a Leica shooter and Forum member. Materialträger
roguewave Posted October 3, 2009 Share #5 Â Posted October 3, 2009 Check out Amado's (imiges) work. His portraits with this lens are outstanding.
