chrism Posted October 3, 2009 Share #1 Posted October 3, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I think I'm going to need to change the numbering of images on the M9 - I have a pile of images from an M8 and later an M8.2, but have managed so far by manually importing them into dated folders. If I switch to LR and use it to create a library, sooner or later I will be importing my older shots and I don't want clashes caused by identical names/numbers. As far as I recall, you change the number of a folder on the SD card on the computer so that images get numbered "L2xxxxxx" rather than the default "L1xxxxxx" - is that right? I suppose that folder renaming doesn't survive card formatting does it? Do you guys who already do this have to format in camera and then rename on the computer each time (I can't believe anyone would bother)? Guest roey Posted October 3, 2009 Share #2 Posted October 3, 2009 I don't know what your naming scheme is, but you can set up Lightroom to rename pictures on import according to a template that you specify, e.g. the date/time of the exposure with the file number appended. That way you can avoid naming conflicts.
