lewis44 Posted October 1, 2009 Share #2 Posted October 1, 2009 I just had the same problem with my Epson 2200. I ordered a kit and should have it in a day or two. I'll post the results when it arrives. Randy
wparsonsgisnet Posted October 2, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted October 2, 2009 H:i, Randy. thanks for the info. Where did you get the kit?
lewis44 Posted October 2, 2009 Share #4 Posted October 2, 2009 The first link is the one I bought. Got it this morning and I've used the kit. It say's to let the printer sit for 6-8 hours before running a clean cycle and nossle check, so I'll know this evening and post whether it worked or not. It does not mention the R2400 on the ebay listing, but I think it will work. Check with the seller. Pretty simple to do. Shipping was fast and I have high hopes for success. Print head cleaner cleaning Epson 1280 R800 R1800 2200 - eBay (item 380156023522 end time Oct-05-09 14:42:25 PDT) Second link is for instructions. There is also a link on the Listing for instructions. photo-i • View topic - How to unclog print heads for Epson R2400 R1800 2200/2100 For $7 it was worth a shot for me. I was quoted $125 and up for repair and if this does not work, I'll just get a new printer as this has done well. Hope this helps.
wparsonsgisnet Posted October 2, 2009 Author Share #5 Posted October 2, 2009 Randy, I ordered something called "Epson Stylus Head Cleaning Solution" from fixyourownprinter.com, today. It is supposely the same solution that Epson uses in their repair department. I'll post some results after I use it, too.
wattsy Posted October 2, 2009 Share #6 Posted October 2, 2009 Never tried it myself but a popular method of unclogging inkjet nozzles is to park the printer head over a rag soaked in Windolene for a few hours. Just found this link which might help.
lewis44 Posted October 2, 2009 Share #7 Posted October 2, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Well, the Magenta was 100% gone and now it's back to printing about 95% of the nozzle test pattern. The instructions stated that it may take 2-3 times if the clog was bad, so it's a good sign. I'll repost @100% or tell you I got a new printer. Jeff S Posted October 4, 2009 Share #8 Posted October 4, 2009 One of the heads on my Epson 2400 is clogged. Anyone using a cleaning kit? tnx, Ok, dumb question, Bill...the automatic print cleaning utility cycle didn't work? Jeff
lewis44 Posted October 4, 2009 Share #9 Posted October 4, 2009 After doing everything that was suggested and using the cleaning kit, I still only have about 95% of the nozzle check for magenta printing. I printed a page with just magenta and there was no banding and printed a test print and it looked fine. I'm now at a loss for what to do next. wparsonsgisnet Posted October 5, 2009 Author Share #10 Posted October 5, 2009 Ok, dumb question, Bill...the automatic print cleaning utility cycle didn't work? Jeff None of the admin functions will work. The printer sends a dont-talk-to-me signal. No cleaning, no nothing. Waiting for the stuff to arrive. wparsonsgisnet Posted October 13, 2009 Author Share #11 Posted October 13, 2009 Hot damn! I am watching a print come out of my printer! It's very frustrating when a head is clogged because none of the admin functions will work. Not the clean, not the print test, nothing. I bot Epson Stylus Head Cleaning Solution from fixyourownprinter.com for $9.95 plus $3.50 shipping. An application following the directions and a couple of overnights (I was a little busy to check until now), and the print test and cleaning cycles worked fine. The print test was excellent. The print JUST came out and looks fantastic! Regards to all,
lewis44 Posted October 13, 2009 Share #12 Posted October 13, 2009 Bill, Good to hear it worked for you. I still have a few missing lines with the Magenta ink, so I will get the cleaner you used and try again.
wparsonsgisnet Posted October 13, 2009 Author Share #13 Posted October 13, 2009 Randy, sorry yours didn't work as well. This printer sat all summer (the fault of my stupid assistant!) and I applied enuf solution to thoroughly soak the 2 pads in my 2400. It sat at least 24 hours. I think I will run head checks periodically in the future rather than let it sit idle. Works great, now. G'luck.
