Rolo Posted September 30, 2009 Share #1 Posted September 30, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Street photographer and blasphemy expert normally uses film Leicas for his personal work. This video shows what in his bag and why:
Advertisement Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 Hi Rolo, Take a look here What's in Chris Weeks' bag. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Shootist Posted September 30, 2009 Share #2 Posted September 30, 2009 Thanks Rolo. But it's kind of funny you posted this in the film forum and he only shoots, or carries in the bag feature in that video, digital cameras. No I haven't been to the other forums yet so I don't know if you cross posted this elsewhere.
kemal_mumcu Posted October 1, 2009 Share #3 Posted October 1, 2009 What's interesting to me is the M9 prototype. The little indent on the left side of the body isn't as deep as production ones. At least to my eyes.

At least to my eyes. If you look close it's not even a indent. It is a groove where the dropped area will start.
pipeclayed Posted October 1, 2009 Share #5 Posted October 1, 2009 Chris Weeks wrote a pamphlet about Street Photography which sounded like an advert for (film) Leicas. That was a few years ago. Now he's upgraded to the M9 - dunno if he still shoots film...
martin Posted October 1, 2009 Share #6 Posted October 1, 2009 I'm disappointed, photography is made on film and silver gelatine paper, and what the heck has he in his bag? Only digital shit. We should post him this

We should post him this Hmm, perhaps a little extreme. While I only shoot film, I will allow digital the accolade of actually being photography! While I only shoot film, I will allow digital the accolade of actually being photography! yes, a little bit extreme. I not have to earn money with photography, so it's easy for me to say that :-)
rob_x2004 Posted October 1, 2009 Share #10 Posted October 1, 2009 Erwitts was pretty amusing and stilted interview. Seemed a bit cross purpose. Maybe he was kind of stuck for the right responses to an interviewer that was a dill or had an agenda. His work is great but implying black and white is truth, or shooting f/1.4 is truth, or dodge and burn and god knows what is truth, the last time I looked that was not how the world presented:D Concluding that Reutered images are something from the devil, that was hilarious:D. Rolo Posted October 1, 2009 Author Share #16 Posted October 1, 2009 I think Weeks uses a Leica MP for film. [/b] He does. Remember, he doesn't own the M9. He was a beta tester. His Canon gear is to do his celebrity work. His personal work is/was done on film M's. Check out his Street Shooting paper, 160 pages which can be downloaded here: Street Photography ... by `cweeks on deviantART
Janet Posted October 2, 2009 Share #17 Posted October 2, 2009 More importantly what was in Bresson's bag? Or H. Newtons's bag? ...... A body, 50mm and dozens of rolls of FILM.
Shootist Posted October 2, 2009 Share #18 Posted October 2, 2009 More importantly what was in Bresson's bag? Or H. Newtons's bag? ...... A body, 50mm and dozens of rolls of FILM. Well that is why I stated it's funny to post this in the film forum. There not a film camera to be seen. And then we have the film zealots. Not me although I do shoot some film with a M camera. Rolo Posted October 2, 2009 Author Share #19 Posted October 2, 2009 More importantly what was in Bresson's bag? Or H. Newtons's bag? ...... A body, 50mm and dozens of rolls of FILM. Understand there is nothing in their bags as they are both long dead. Start a thread about the contents of dead photographers bags. John Stovall will be a big contributor. Chris Weeks has been an avid Leica M film photographer for years. That's why I posted it here, regardless of what's in his bag today, or maybe especially because what's in his bag today - you decide. I'm not biased about either media. This year I've captured 30,000 frames of video still on my M8 and Canon Pro bodies and about 2,000 frames of film in my MP and M7. Happy with both, although I'm in no doubt about which is the most satisfying and artistic medium.
