ModernMan Posted September 27, 2009 Share #1 Posted September 27, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have always liked shooting action sports with the Leica M, particularly with the Leica M-Motor. Shot a few hundred photos at a tennis event yesterday and this morning, usingcan M9 with 135/2.8 (and also a few with a 5DII w/ 70-300 zoom). The M9 handles very well indeed. Subjectively, the key thing I missed on the M9 was a faster advance. 2 FPS is pretty slow. Reminicent of the winder on the M4-2. Something like the M-motor (around 4 FPS) would be better. BUT with no actual film to advance, recent advances is electromechanical technology, and of course not having to slap a mirror around, perhaps 8 or 10, or more, FPS is achievable (think Canon 1DIII). Maybe a higher frame rate will cause higher battery drain per frame. Well, how about an M-grip that can hold a few/couple of batteries and augment the battery capacity. I'd envision a dummy battery going where the battery currently goes, providing contacts that the the M-Grip-with-batteres would make contact with to supply power. Such an M-Grip could supply higher current for faster advance, and increase capacity beyond the current 300 or so frames.
