unlike later Panasonic's, its a Leica hot shoe flash even for LC1

you can use a Metz if you are so inclined,

pictured here with the MZ 54 and 22mm WA adapter on LC1

Greeetings,

Is the Metz 54-3 currently available?

Is there a Leica adapter required to use it on the Digilux 2?

How is the balance flash/camera? Not too top heavy?

What flash modes can be used: A, TTL, M?

How do you set the camera to use the Metz?

Can one easily do balanced fill flash ie. outdoor fill flash?

Kind Regards

not sure about MZ54 availability

yes it needs a Leica shoe for dedicated flash

SCA 3205, then it picks up camera adjustments and works automatically

its a bit top heavy, something the size of FL36 would be better

you just turn it on and set the camera menu with the flash button

yes, shoot manually

set aperture for dof

set shutter to expose outside view through the window

go to the window and meter the scene first at the desired aperture

Thanks Riley.

So the Metz flash can only be used in M mode, ie. not A or TTL with the Digilux2?

Thanks for explaining how to set the camera up for daylight fill flash using the Metz/other external flash.

I assume this is also true for the built in flash? ie. Shoot in M .

Kind Regards

no look, you asked a bunch of questions Len, you got a bunch of answers

this Metz, with the SCA 3205 module will shoot TTL/Auto/Manual (so marked on the LCD)

it will follow the zoom and aperture settings on the camera automatically

you can adjust the flash either on the flash controls, or from the camera by menu

TTL goes all the way to 1/2000th sec flash sync, so you have full control

just the same as the built in, except muchomany times more powerful

this would be true of any Metz, that takes the SCA 3502 dedicated module

but you nee to factor the cost of the module into your plans

I bought this one on ebay for around $60, I have Canon and Oly bodies, and modules for each of them
