marknorton Posted September 27, 2009 Share #1 Posted September 27, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Both the M8 and M9 have SET menus of 6 lines and Main Menus of 7 lines; on the M8, the SET Menu font size is larger than the main menu whereas on the M9 they are the same size which seems to leave more space than is needed around the text at the expense of readability given the limited pixel count of the disaply. I'd like to see the SET menu revert to the larger font. At the same time, it's a pity the English speaking reviewers did not take them to task for weird abbreviations or incorrect language in the menu entries such as: Exposure comp. +2/3 Exp. bracketing Off Discr. & Soft Set user profile Germans are much more used to such abbreviations than we are in English because their text tends to be 30% longer. However, it would have been better if they had asked for help, for example: Exposure +2/3 EV Bracketing Off Discreet+Soft or even, Discreet & Soft, I think there's space. Load or Select or Use Profile Also, White Balance, not White balance Some other comments: Pity the SnapShot profile is first in the list, it should be last so that the default is the first user profile. At least they seem to have given up on the Micky Mouse lens graphics in SS mode. If you are showing "Info" in picture mode, why can't you go directly to Play or Set without pressing Info again? You can cancel Info by pressing the Info button a second time, but you can't cancel ISO by pressing ISO a second time. If however you press SET, you can cancel ISO and go back to either picture or review mode, depending on where you started. The words "Breakfast" and "Dog's" come to mind... rebelfocus Posted September 27, 2009 Share #4 Posted September 27, 2009 Another really annoying thing about the SET menu is that unlike the other menus, the highlighted item in a sub-menu just appears white instead of grey and it very hard to make out.
