Don'tknowmuch Posted September 25, 2009 Share #1 Posted September 25, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello all. I have just sent my Summaron 2.8 off to be looked at (Red Dot Cameras - where I bought the lens) as there are a couple of iris leaves that look to have come loose. I will hear back in time, but this will be after the lens has got to the shop and then got to the repairers and then been looked at and then returned to the shop... So - is this common? Can it be repaired? Can a new iris be put in? Should I insist on a new iris rather than submit to the pins being pushed back in? I would like to know this sort of thing rather than wait for a month to go by... When I bought the lens it had been opened before as the markings were not on centre. Ivor was very good about this and got it sorted, but that would have meant going in again - and I wonder if the means by which the iris is held solid has been compromised? Any thoughts welcome, thanks, Jim.
