sfage Posted November 21, 2006 Share #1 Posted November 21, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) My Digi2 has been sitting for the last couple of weeks. Suddenly, when I turned it on this morning, it is "reverse video". In other words, whites are black, greens are purple... ..."et cetera". Any idea what has happened there? More importantly, any idea what to do?

haris Posted November 21, 2006 Share #2 Posted November 21, 2006 Your camera is in negative colour setting. I don't have D2, but in general what I would do is next: 1. Check is camera set to "negative" effect, if there is that setting at all. Some (most of) compact digi cameras and video cameras have several "fun settings" that gives different effects (looks of image) when shooting. Like sepia effect, solarize, mosaic etc... One (most often) of those settings is "negative", that is setting which give negative image colours. What you said Shane (white is black, green is purple...), is that your camera gives negative colours. So, check that setting first. Next, was battery left in camera during that "sitting" time? If it is, remove battery from camera, leave it out for some time (let say about 1 hour, or even 1 day). Doing that, check is battery leaked into camera. Just to be safe. that doesn't happens often, but who knows... Next, reset camera to factory settings. If camera is not set to "negative" effect, or doesn't have that effect at all, and removing battery and reseting to factory settings doesn't help, I am afraid it easily could be that camera is not working properly, and should be sent to repairing. But, I would first contact seller, or Leica, give exact description of problem, and see what they would tell... That is what I would do. But, as I said, I don't have that particular camera, I spoked in general what I would do with any camera in that situation regardless of model. I hope someone who have that camera could be of more help... Good luck.
dannirr Posted November 21, 2006 Share #3 Posted November 21, 2006 This is crazy. Mine did exactly the same thing this weekend while I was travelling. I still have not figured out how to correct it. I dont believe there is a negative setting - I'll check. But that is what it looks like - just as decsribed in the first message above. If you resolve it, please post. haris Posted November 21, 2006 Share #4 Posted November 21, 2006 And my previous post lead to next: If camera malfunction, and you don't want to send it to repairing, try next: 1. As camera already gives negative colours, set it (if can) to negative colour setting. That maybe will give positive (original) colors. Like in mathematics. - multiply with - gives + 2. Shoot with camera and in some image software (like Photoshop or one you have) transform images from camera (which are in negative colours) to negative image, hoping that like in previous case - and - will give + OK, this is joke, I couldn't resist... sfage Posted November 21, 2006 Author Share #5 Posted November 21, 2006 I have plugged it in to the power source on the charger. No change. "Toast"
haris Posted November 24, 2006 Share #6 Posted November 24, 2006 I have plugged it in to the power source on the charger. No change. "Toast" Shane, when I said to leave battery out, I didn't mean to change power supply. I mean, leaving battery out to discharge any eventually power, however small it can be, in order to "reset" camera. Leaving battery out, but replacing with other power source (charger), wouldn't make anything. So leave battery out AND DON'T use any power for 1 day. After that, charge battery, put it in camera, and reset camera to factory settings. Maybe that would help... But, I am afraid camera is ready to repairing...
