Tom Eaton Posted August 19, 2013 Share #21 Posted August 19, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I traded the D300 up to a D700 and MY Gosh it's a great combo with the Leitz lenses. My Elmarit 35mm is still doing absolutely great, but also the 90mm is superb on the D700. This is just a testshot during evening cooking and only mildly tweeked in PP (cropped and resized for web; D700, 1000 iso, f/2.8, s=1/80s): I am planning to convert my Elmarit - R 24, 28, 35, 90, 135 and 180 and my Summiron - R 50 with the Leitax mounts to use on a Nikon D 800. Do yuou know if all of the glass will work with the D 800?
Advertisement Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Hi Tom Eaton, Take a look here Leica R on Nikon D300 (Leitax again) - with pictures!. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
integrale Posted August 19, 2013 Author Share #22 Posted August 19, 2013 I don't see why not. Mechanically it shouldn't be a problem. I have used my Leitax'ed lenses on D300, D700, F3, FM3a and (via a cheap converter) a Fuji X-E1. Maybe the D800 out-resolves the lenses? On the D700 my absolute favorite is still the 35 mm Elmarit and the 100 APO-Elmarit. Looking forward to seeing some examples from you!
tobey bilek Posted August 19, 2013 Share #23 Posted August 19, 2013 Buy real Leitax mounts for any lens that has 10 mount screws, 6 for the mount and 4 to hold the lens together. Otherwise the $15 ones from Rainbow imaging are fine. Brooklyn NewYork
tobey bilek Posted August 20, 2013 Share #24 Posted August 20, 2013 Rereading this I had a flash. The screen height from the mirror generally is not correct from the factory and since you are focusing on it, you think the lens is in focus when it is not. As little as .001" makes a difference. I would do a focus bracket to see if this is your problem. On 200, 300 700. 800, D3 there is a screw in the lower corner of the mirror box that raises and lowers the screen. A 1.5 mm hex will turn it. DO NOT MESS WITH THE MIRROR STOP AND THE SECONDARY MIRROR or you will never get it right again. Adjust 1 degree of rotation at a time. After proper set up, live view, the green dot, and the screen will all agree. The green dot is not reliable if the screen is wrong. Cheaper models like 7000 have to have screen adjusted by replacing shims above the screen.

roguewave Posted October 2, 2013 Share #26 Posted October 2, 2013 I have converted several R lenses for my D800. The Leitex is very good. I sent my lenses to DAG Camera for him to execute the conversions. He is a perfectionist & a wonderful man. He was a Leica tech for many years! With my 80 & 35 Summilux conversions it takes some re expertise. There is some shaving on the inner portion of the lens. I LOVE the amazing files from the D800. You really get to see the vast differences between the quality Leica primes, compared to other lenses.
