JBC Posted September 12, 2009 Share #1 Posted September 12, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, I am new to M sysetm, my new m8 is working great, but I have some questions maybe you could help me with: 1.I installed the firmware 2.004. Now I can use SDHC cards, I have a discreet shutter option. both work great. But I also see a new option in the menu "AUTO ISO Setup", where you can set max ISO and lowest speed. I believe this is an AUTO ISO function. I set boht parameters, but it does not work. 2. I am trying to install the Leica CAPTURE 1 software that comes in the box, but it does not want to install, I have a Mac with Mac OS X 10.5.8 (9L31a) (I upgraded to leopard a year ago). Also during the instalation process, it never get to ask me for a "key number". I tried to dowloud form the Leica webpage , but it did not work also. 3. I am getting SOMETIMES a little red spot in the pictures located on the right side, or bottom-right side of the picture. Do I have to worry or it is something that will go away alone. I posted a picture to show. Evrething else is working fine. BTW, I was also into the m9 dilema, but not any more, M8 is great, picture quality is superb, and so is the price (compared to m9), I will save for more lenses and have fun. thank you all for your help. But in the i-photo it is still there. Shootist Posted September 12, 2009 Share #3 Posted September 12, 2009 1)Auto ISO Do you have the ISO function in the SET menu set to Auto ISO? What do you mean it doesn't work. When you set the lowest shutter speed that is just a trigger to raise the ISO. Once the ISO gets to your upper limit then the shutter speed will drop below your set lowest shutter speed. That is the way it is supposed to work. 2) You need to download the newest version of Capture One Version 4 which as of yesterday is 4.8.3. This version will install and when you first open the program it will ask you to Register (insert a key), Buy or use the software as a demo/trial version. Us the key that is on the CD sleeve that came with the M8. 3) Are you seeing this red dot on the cameras LCD screen or on your computer monitor. I don't see it in the images you posted. hoppyman Posted September 13, 2009 Share #5 Posted September 13, 2009 I found your unwanted red dot on the right edge. This is odd. It looks about the right size for a bit of dust on your sensor maybe, but I don't understand the colour. Also possible that it is a filter reflection. Can you take a sample shot of plain sky or light coloured wall and see if it is there? Sensor dust should be obvious only at small apertures, not wide open. Give it a try and tell us what you see?
