Do not format the SD card in your camera. Just empty it using the computer. While the card is still in your card reader, double click on the card icon, throw the 100LEICA folder from DCIM to trash, empty the trash and than eject the card. It is faster and saves the energy of your battery. The icon will persist.

I'm certainly not a specialist, but the consensus, I believe, is to only format in camera to prevent card corruption. Perhaps, someone more knowledgeable than I wants to chime in.

I agree.

 

I have always been told that the best practice is to always format the card in the camera after downloading. This is supposed to be best practice to avoid problems.
