M9: Noise reduction?

Apologies in advance if this is an obvious answer to some!

I'm quite curious if the new M9 is actually using any built in/auto noise reduction (at shorter exposure times below 1 second) at the higher ISO settings?

If so, when does it kick in.....?

If they are not, perhaps Leica's thinking is that it should be done in post to offer the highest acuity in shooting?

Thanks if you know the answer!

I don't know that there's any explicit use of NR in the M9 but the processing engine in each camera must do some noise handling in any camera. More knowledgable guys here will probably answer you in better detail but given the level of detail in M8 files (and David Farkas' review of the M9 seems to indicate the files are very similar in character) I would say the digital M cameras are very restrained in what they do with the files.

Thanks Vikas

Partly the reason for my curiosity is this: Amongst camera brands it makes commercial sense that its better to sell a camera that has a less detail capture (at its resolution) with more noise reduction as opposed to no noise reduction and a camera with higher noise.

This is probably in part to the fact of general consumer thinking and buying patterns and also it is possibly harder to compare sharpness (at relative resolutions) as easily as checking noise patterns between cameras.

Perhaps Leica is taking the non-commercial approach here?
