jackal Posted September 10, 2009 Share #1 Posted September 10, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) its changed hasn't it ? its pretty contrasty outside here and I am finding the metering seems to be quite a tight centre spot rather than centre weighted I am finding i need to meter on a mid grey to get proper exposures
Advertisement Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 Hi jackal, Take a look here M9 metering ?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Double Negative Posted September 10, 2009 Share #2 Posted September 10, 2009 The metering has definitely changed (look at the shutter blades). But it should be more "averaging" than tight. Hmm...
stunsworth Posted September 10, 2009 Share #3 Posted September 10, 2009 They've changed the white pattern on the shutter blades by a grey bands above and below a central white section.
jackal Posted September 10, 2009 Author Share #4 Posted September 10, 2009 i'm getting a lot of unexposed frames, quite heavily unexposed it would seem that if there's a tiny bit of bright sky or a bright window in the frame then it throws everything out will test it back to back with an M8 later on
Shootist Posted September 10, 2009 Share #5 Posted September 10, 2009 i'm getting a lot of unexposed frames, quite heavily unexposed it would seem that if there's a tiny bit of bright sky or a bright window in the frame then it throws everything out will test it back to back with an M8 later on You do mean UNDERexposed as apposed to UNexposed (That mean no exposure at all, Black frames) correct??? Thanks.
dpattinson Posted September 10, 2009 Share #6 Posted September 10, 2009 I found with my M8 that if I shot into the light, with the sun outside the image, but directly above the lens axis I fairly repeatably got gross underexposure. I assumed that the light was somehow hitting the light-meter sensor directly, rather than reflecting off the white strip. This was a pretty huge underexposure though.
