question regarding to Custom

There is a long thread on this topic here. Unfortunately I don't have the time to look for it right now but the general gist was no import duties on still camera equipment coming in to the US. There were screen shots in the thread from the relevant pages in the US harmonized tariff schedule to support it.

I ordered four 50mm .95 from Germany to U.S.

Do U.S Custom charge me any duty ?

any one had similar experience are welcomed.

thanks

I've had several things shipped to me in the US from overseas, and I've been charged duty a couple of times. It's really hit and miss. With an order like the one you've placed, it would be safe for you to expect to pay a fair amount in duty; if you don't get charged, consider yourself lucky. Duty on camera lenses could be up to 20% of the value of the items.

One thing that might effect you is the method of transport. Into Aus, regular mail gets scanned and tested (contraband) but I doubt there is a customs inspector for every parcel. When you use a freight forwarder, or a courier, they are likely to have an accounting package linked to customs declarations and valuations, and (unless they want to pay the deemed duties well actually GST, on your behalf:D) they will make sure they collect from you plus a valuation charge before clearing the parcel through to their domestic couriers. They dont care if your parcel sits on their shelves till you pay. Be worth going through your local customs site then hopping on the phone to customs.
