M. Valdemar Posted September 9, 2009 Share #1 Posted September 9, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) They said the M8 couldn't use the DR Summicron, but most of them worked fine. Ditto for the Epson R-D1, the manual said no but mine worked perfectly. Are they just talking about the close-focus function, or is there some odd reason the DR 50mm Summicron can't mount or focus on the M9 as a normal lens without the closeup attachment? Advertisement Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Hi M. Valdemar, Take a look here Dual Range Summicron doesn't fit M9?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
pklein Posted September 9, 2009 Share #2 Posted September 9, 2009 On the RD-1, the close-focus part of the range wouldn't work, but the lens worked fine On the M8, the close-focus half of the RF cam at the back of the DR would bind on something inside the camera, and you couldn't focus it in the normal range.. If you had the close-focus portion of the cam machined off, the lens worked fine. I had this done on my DR. I suspect the M9 has a similar issue, but I don't know this for a fact. lemalk Posted September 10, 2009 Share #3 Posted September 10, 2009 Can you give me some insight as to how you machined off the cam for the DR 'cron? I love mine, but can only use it on my M5 since it won't mount on the 8.
pklein Posted September 11, 2009 Share #4 Posted September 11, 2009 I sent it to DAG camera repair: DAG Camera Parts I know of one person who did it himself with a Dremel, but I'm not that brave.
