chris_tribble Posted September 11, 2009 Author Share #61 Posted September 11, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) From what I have read NO the M9 images are basically the same as the M8 just more pixels. Shootist - the consensus of a one stop improvement over the M8 seems about right . IMHO the snap I took last night at the end of dinner (my long suffering partner!) is a very significant improvement in terms of noise compared with the M8. That advantage + the benefit of returning to a style of shooting with wide lenses are more than sufficient reasons for shifting to the M9 for me. My one problem now is working out how to afford a second M9 body

My one problem now is working out how to afford a second M9 body Chris I think in the post I replied to the poster was not asking specifically about ISO but in general the overall image quality. From the shots I have seen and worked on from the M9, thank you and the other M9 users for posting these, the image quality is basically the same. Just bigger @ 300 PPI and if you shoot uncompressed DNG much bigger in file size. Not to mention the bigger PSD or TIFF file you will generate. To be completely honest if the M9 had come in at the original price of the M8 I would be searchinig for one right now. But at the $7000 mark I'll need to hit the lottery before I buy one (or marry a very rich woman, which is unlikely).
chris_tribble Posted September 11, 2009 Author Share #63 Posted September 11, 2009 Following up on earlier posts, I've adjusted the calibration in LR a little more and it's producing results I'm OK with for now. Comments and alternatives will be interesting to hear... Below: screen shot with settings exterior early morning light - skin tones feel right to me (AWB - also moire does not show on the RAW - introduced in downsizing the JPEG) interior morning light - the reds are OK to me. (WB set of the sheet music) BTW - all shots with uncompressed raw. Welcome, dear visitor! Go to the Develope section and read off the setting changes. In fact save those setting as a preset, it will be saved to a file, and psot it here as a ZIP file.
