andalus Posted September 9, 2009 Share #1 Posted September 9, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) MP user here thinking about buying an M 9. (Indeed I have already placed order at Amazon. Here's my question: I use a Mac Book Pro exclusively. Using Snow Leopard, too as Op System. I don't know how one would get firmware updates from Leica website to an M9 via a Mac. How is this done? Could anybody briefly explain how? thanks in advance I did download the "zip" file, whatever that is for the M9 update but it could not unzip it on computer. I don't understand these maters, never having used a Microsoft operating system or a PC.
Advertisement Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Hi andalus, Take a look here Help - new to m digital. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Shootist Posted September 9, 2009 Share #2 Posted September 9, 2009 With a Mac (as far as I know as I've never used one) there is no need to unzip the file. The OS does that automatically during the download. So just COPY the file to the ROOT directory/folder of a SD/SDHC card and place it in the camera. Turn the camera on and you should see a prompt on the LCD to update the firmware, Yes --- No. I suggest you also download the install instructions form the Leica website and FOLLOW them to the letter. ho_co Posted September 9, 2009 Share #3 Posted September 9, 2009 andalus-- Just drag to desktop, then double-click to "unzip." Then just drag the updater file to the top level of your SD card and follow Leica's posted instructions, as Ed said.
epand56 Posted September 10, 2009 Share #4 Posted September 10, 2009 You can do as on any other computer in the world. Using a Mac, you have to keep in mind that on a spaceship you can do almost anything you do on a biplane
Nicoleica Posted September 10, 2009 Share #5 Posted September 10, 2009 Hi, Once you have downloaded the file from Leica, (First picture.) it will appear in your 'downloads' folder. Either open the downloads folder, or from the download history box, select 'Open in finder' (Second picture) Then, copy it to the root directory of an SD card. (Third picture.) It should then look something like this. (Fourth picture.) Now, eject the card from your computer, place it in the M9 and follow rest of the instructions from the Leica website. vikasmg Posted September 11, 2009 Share #11 Posted September 11, 2009 Firstly, thanks for letting us know there's already an update to the firmware:-). My M9 should get here in a day or two. Secondly, do everything Nicole says in her message. I'm using Snow Leopard on a Mac as well. It's not a problem. Also, just below the firmware update there is a PDF file you can download with instructions. - Vikas
