guidowi Posted September 9, 2009 Share #1 Posted September 9, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi all, I was today at the Leica presentation in Milan where, after the webcast live from NY, the Italian invited clients have been able to test the cameras and here are my impressions. I put a my card in a M9 and did some test. I opened the DNG with LR 2.3 and the files appeared incredibly good with the same impressive DMR look (IMO unmatched till today). The LR camera profile is "embedded" as the DMR. I tested 1600 ISO and it is better than the M8 But... the writing time of each picture is long, very long and if one needs to see an enlarged picture on the LCD immediately after the shot he must wait a lot to obtain a detailed view and a lot more if the shots are a sequence. I used for my test a Sandisk SD 2GB extreme III I used thousands of time on my M8s and I formatted it in the M9. Files large 34,7 MB are not easy to manage but for this operating aspect the M8 is better. I didn't find informations about the M9 processor but I don't think it is the "Maestro", could it be similar to the M8 one but with more job to do? I also quickly tested the X1 and I think it is a different level. Finally the huge S2 is really... heavy! Cheers from Milan Guido Wihelm

You are right, I have noticed it. The zooming is awfully slower to view than on the M8. I don't mind though, one more reason not to chimp (and think of the R-D1 wonderful flipable screen ...°
