yanidel Posted September 9, 2009 Share #1 Posted September 9, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Got to handle the M9 today, so here is my first "street" picture with it.There is a link in the article where you can get the full size unprocessed picture (slightly compressed though). Using the 35mm Lux Asph wide open with a 35mm FOV was a great pleasure. efftee Posted September 9, 2009 Share #2 Posted September 9, 2009 Excellent picture. Great resolution and tack sharp. Other than the 35 FOV, could you tell if there's any difference between the M9 and the M8? Especially in terms of IQ?

yanidel Posted September 9, 2009 Author Share #7 Posted September 9, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) yanidel, are you hooked up for m9? I bet so far it cost me only a €1200 deposit ... but I don't believe it is recoverable ... so I guess this is it Delivery in two weeks apparently... More than full format, I think the gain in stops through higher ISO performance + use of fast lenses like 35mm Lux Asph (instead of 24mm Elmarit) will make low light shooting much more fun. Then there is a lot of little improvements (sometimes details) that all together make it an exciting camera, so I am in ...
padraigm Posted September 9, 2009 Share #8 Posted September 9, 2009 what about the cocking motor is it the same as the M8???

Other than the 35 FOV, could you tell if there's any difference between the M9 and the M8? Especially in terms of IQ? ISO 1250 is a great improvement though some noise is visible. 2500 now becomes very usable though I get the impression that the processing softens them vs M8. In terms of sharpness, I don't get the feeling it is improved over the M8 but this is only based on a couple of shots, so this is not a definite opinion. Skin tones are better rendered, probably due to higher dynamic range. I still got blown highlights though, but could be my exposure.

Actually I forgot to take the UV/IR off my lens so can't really say the impact it could have on the picture
yanidel Posted September 9, 2009 Author Share #11 Posted September 9, 2009 what about the cocking motor is it the same as the M8??? About the same. The shutter makes less noise, about the same as M8.2. Not silent though.

I will definitely have M9 in hands but probably after M10 is released As you say, so many posibilities with 21, 24 luxes, 28 cron , 35 lux .. I have Super Angulon and Im waiting for first pics from SA from other people. Experiment iso 2500 at BW for me and tell if it is same as with m8,2 regarding the look of "noise" . I had fun editing with DNG files from another guy. It looks good due lack of AA filter. Did you find difference bewtween compressed dng and uncomp dng? Did you find difference bewtween compressed dng and uncomp dng? actually, and I feel stupid, but the M9 I used was set up in jpg and did not realize until a few minutes ago. That tells me a lot about the huge improvement in JPG processing out of the camera which was terrible on the M8. I will experiment with the M9 and let you know but the grain at ISO2500 will be much finer than the M8's curly ones.
