Bit of an anti-climax?

I think having everybody in the world who knows anything about Leica tuned in at 9 AM on 09/09/2009 is pretty good marketing.

I "know something about Leica" but I didn't tune in and had no plans to do so. I'm rather glad I didn't as it sound like I would have thrown away 15 minutes or so of my life that I'd never get back.

What is it with Leica and Seal - is he particularly popular in Germany? Sounds like he's a nice enough bloke but what is Leica's fascination/obsession with the man?

I'm with Mark on the building down to a price aspect of the M9. Once you are spending nearly £5000, spending a few hundred quid more (and getting a top plate LCD and possibly sapphire glass) does not seem unreasonable.

I don't know. All the millionaires and stars in this world own a Leica, including the Beckhams and Springsteen. Probably Madonna and the guys from Motorhead and Iron Maiden, too.

What amazes me is not Leica's love towards Seal but the silliness on RFF where some of the regulars cryed and prayed for Seal to post back in the forum. Those few regulars with bleeding hearts towards Seal promised to be nicer in the future in hope he'd get back.

It started to get so silly... the whole thread got erased.

I thought this was the first time they'd used him? Most of the chatter regarding Seal/Leica seemed to come from forums where people were start struck at the thought of him posting rather from Leica themselves.

Why Seal at the recent launch? He's probably cheaper than Clapton.

He's also in a VW TV ad here in Asia w/ his wife (who's name escapes me). Its a rather stupid & mindless (meaning no apparent point to it that I can decipher) that seems to focus on their relationship. What that has to do with cars & why to buy them is beyond my understanding.

I'm a subscriber of Stern and a number of other German magazines, Seal does show up frequently with his German wife Heidi Klum here and there, he, Marilyn Manson's ex-wife Dita von Teese and Obama are among the most popular Americans in Germany in my impression.

FWIW: Seal isn't American at all; he's British. We do all speak (supposedly) the same language, though.

Thanks a lot for the correction, I've never followed any news about him nor his music (type) ... perhaps the other 2 I've mentioned about are also non-American after all. ;)

Nothing wrong with Heidi Klum.

As Seal said, letting her actually watch Rudi giving him an S2 in the webcast was an important part of their relationship, since for some reason she feels his current lot of more than 50 cameras should suffice. :)
