jpattison Posted September 10, 2009 Share #61 Posted September 10, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) This is one aspect of the M9 that surprised me and a step backwards IMHO. Perhaps it's destined to be a Leica annuity for minor upgrades .... Perhaps there will be an M9-P (see S2-P with sapphire glass) John
Advertisement Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 Hi jpattison, Take a look here M9 site with FAQs up now. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
georg Posted September 10, 2009 Share #62 Posted September 10, 2009 When you handle the M9 you'll notice that it is as slow as the M8 - not nearly as fast and responsive as the S2. Another problem is power consumption, it's still problematic with the M9. I would have loved to see the Maestro-processor, but as you can read, they hurried to come up with a full-frame M9 as soon as Kodak was ready while the Leica-people were still busy with the S2-development. The M9 digital-department was designed and manufactured by Jenoptik, just like the M8, only the firmware is from Leica (?). Leica surey hoped for a modular-system based on the S2 but they didn't want to wait.
Elmo Posted September 10, 2009 Share #63 Posted September 10, 2009 Was there any mention of price. My webcast was so intermittent, I only got about 20%, so missed it if it was announced. Leica UK and Leica France websites seem to be down at the moment, probably for update. Wilson yesterday it was listed on Amazon!
