jsjxyz Posted September 9, 2009 Share #4 Posted September 9, 2009 Wish the next firmware upgrade for M8, will make us can also manually select lenses from an internal database. No need 6 bit coding.

KM-25 Posted September 9, 2009 Share #6 Posted September 9, 2009 Sean Reid's X1 review is up, but not yet the M9. I am in Salt Lake now reading this in a Starbucks, in two hours I get to check it out. Interesting though, the X-1 gets reviewed first...hmmm... I have to say I really need to spend some time with the camera today to decide as the samples on dpreview would not have me buying one.

sdai Posted September 9, 2009 Share #8 Posted September 9, 2009 ... as the samples on dpreview would not have me buying one. Exactly what I want to say right now ... the feeling is not right, especially color ... doesn't have the mojo of 8 or 8.
sean_reid Posted September 9, 2009 Share #9 Posted September 9, 2009 Sean Reid's X1 review is up, but not yet the M9. Myself and other journalists are sticking to the 9/10 review embargo date agreed with Leica. Extensive review coming up tomorrow. I have been working with the camera in Europe and here and I'm now free to discuss it. Headed out to meet with two other photographers today, will check in on the forum tonight. Cheers, Sean
KM-25 Posted September 9, 2009 Share #10 Posted September 9, 2009 Exactly what I want to say right now ... the feeling is not right, especially color ... doesn't have the mojo of 8 or 8.2 dpreview is not the best for samples, often in poor light and badly exposed. I see the embargo mentioned above, darn, I really have to make a go of it in the store and then decide.

plasticman Posted September 9, 2009 Share #14 Posted September 9, 2009 I have to say I really need to spend some time with the camera today to decide as the samples on dpreview would not have me buying one. Plus one. I'm really relieved in a way - not that I don't still lust after full-frame and would love to run out and buy a chrome M9 if I had the cash, but many of the samples showed the usual abrupt hightlight transitions that are my main problem with digital, and the few higher-ISO samples weren't massively convincing imho. Of course none of this will be visible to the true believer. Still - all that sounds grudging - it has been a MASSIVE achievement by Leica all-round today, and a good sign for the future. I can simply temporarily dampen my consumerist thirst by looking at those highlights every time my credit-card comes sneaking out of my wallet. zlatkob Posted September 9, 2009 Share #15 Posted September 9, 2009 Dpreview does not have even one sample above ISO 640 ... not even one! Would it be so difficult for them to post something at ISO 1250 and 2500?
Gismoto Posted September 9, 2009 Share #16 Posted September 9, 2009 Sean Reid's X1 review is up, but not yet the M9. Sean's review of the M9 will follow tomorrow (Sept. 10).

Would it be so difficult for them to post something at ISO 1250 and 2500? There is an image of the ceiling of a church that's ISO1600. Take another look. 35mmSummicron Posted September 9, 2009 Share #18 Posted September 9, 2009 DPReview lists the M9 to include Leica Digital Capture for remote control capture. Are we to believe that mac users using 10.5 + will be able to tether a digital M again? Will it actually be **USABLE** ???? Can anyone confirm? .a

KM-25 Posted September 9, 2009 Share #20 Posted September 9, 2009 Plus one. I can simply temporarily dampen my consumerist thirst by looking at those highlights every time my credit-card comes sneaking out of my wallet. I see that too, I just want to really give the camera a chance, so if I don't feel convinced right away in the store, I will pass for today and wait until Sean's Review is up. 7K is enough money to lay out that one should be thorough and patient. To kill time, I have some Summer images shot with the D700 / 85 1.4 Carl Zeiss I am playing with. It's honestly not taking a lot of work to get them scary sharp.
