arnaudhaifa Posted September 8, 2009 Share #1 Posted September 8, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Is the wide angle viewfinfer -Frankenfinder- sold with the tri-elmar going to be different with the M9 in order to respect the new frames fitting full frame sensor? I am asking as I have it with my M8 and was curious to know. Logically it seems it would need an adjustment of 0.33, am I wrong? Thanks for your answers. Advertisement Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 Hi arnaudhaifa, Take a look here Tri-elmar Viewfinder for M9. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
swamiji Posted September 8, 2009 Share #2 Posted September 8, 2009 No, franken finder is already set for FF. That why it has a 28mm setting and the WATE only goes to 21mm
arnaudhaifa Posted September 8, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted September 8, 2009 I understand but today when I use it on 21 it shows me the frame lines for 21 on M8 which are different from 21 frame lines on M9.
swamiji Posted September 8, 2009 Share #4 Posted September 8, 2009 Actually, 21mm on the WATE is 28mm on the M8 and in the Frankenfinder. On the M9 it will be 21mm everywhere.
swamiji Posted September 8, 2009 Share #5 Posted September 8, 2009 Just a side note, Leica has never aknowledge the M8 cropping factor in any lens or view finder until the current 21/24mm viewfinders. So the lens markings in the WATE and the Frankenfinder are all FF.
ho_co Posted September 8, 2009 Share #6 Posted September 8, 2009 Amaud--just a repeat of the above: The universal VF has settings for 16, 18, 21, 24 and 28. With the WATE (Tri-Elmar 16-18-21), you use the 21 mm, 24 mm and 28 mm settings with the M8. You'll use the actual focal length settings 16 mm, 18 mm and 21 mm settings with the M9. Same finder; you just use a different set of engravings.
