beoon Posted September 7, 2009 Share #1 Posted September 7, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Would anybody be interested in a Leica M9-2 An entry model , full frame with a 10.5 mp sensor at a cheaper price. I only want the full frame so that my 35 lux asph is a 35 lux asph, the 18.5 mp is secondary for me.
Advertisement Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 Hi beoon, Take a look here Leica M9-2. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
adan Posted September 7, 2009 Share #2 Posted September 7, 2009 The cost of a sensor has more to do with the size of the silicon than the number of pixels on it - wastage due to bad spots, inefficiencies of fitting fewer, bigger retangles into a circular wafer (basic calculus), etc.) I doubt Leica could lower the price just by lowering the pixel count on the same silicon area. If anything, having to divide sales over two different sensors would likely raise the price of both. But I am with you on full-frame being more important than megapixelage. I'd have been happy with 12 Mpixels and better low-light performance (I think people will be happily surprised by the M9 ISO 2500, but fewer bigger pixels with the same technology would be better yet). lxlim Posted September 7, 2009 Share #3 Posted September 7, 2009 more pixels will help with moire. Otherwise I would also be happy with a 12mp M. wonder if it would experience the same effect as the S2. David Farkas mentioned over at the S2 thread that moire could not be reproduced at all for the S2. High ISO would definitely be better for the same print enlargements even without sensor improvements. After 3 years, I'm sure Kodak would have moved along the technological path somewhat
