phlogiston1 Posted November 19, 2006 Share #1 Posted November 19, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) The V1 is a bloody good camera. I haven't had such a fun camera in years! This cost me $1100.00 Australian Dollars and everything must be seen in the light of the cost. This is a great value camera. The image quality is excellent. The camera is a joy to use in all situations. I use it with a Sandisk 2GB ultra 111 card. Its fast enough. The exposures are spot on!!! The lens is just fantastic!!! The set of functions are great, if not unique. I hold my ISO to 100, 200 and, 400 if in B&W and Sepia. Look, I like those settings for social shoot-arounds, easier than post conversion. I used it yesterday as a extra camera to shoot a wedding; I usually shoot commercial and industrial stuff, and It is just so useful. I shot the wedding on my R8 as I usually do. I have a big problem with shooting digital weddings in "high contrast" environments where I live but that another story guys. I can shoot over 500 shots on the card and I just happily shot all night long, it was fantastic. I shot in 9:16 format because I like to compose in that format a lot more than the other options. Hasselblad owners may like square but I never did. Even 6X7 was a little cramped for my eye. So can i just say that I think this is a gem of a camera and will appeal to many people on this forum. I also shoot Canon 5D and 30D ( with Leica glass) but this a different camera and a LOT of fun. Robin.

kamilsukun Posted November 19, 2006 Share #2 Posted November 19, 2006 Robin, Happy days with your new V1. Would you by any chance think of posting few examples of the results of V1.
phlogiston1 Posted November 19, 2006 Author Share #3 Posted November 19, 2006 Maybe, but I'm not sure how helpful this can be. This V1 doesn't have faults, limitations perhaps but not faults. The noise issue has been widly discussed and I am happy to use this camera where it works best ie in the low ISO settings. I don't have a problem with that. What i am saying is that this , in my opinion, is a good, fun, and capable camera that seems to be excellent value for money and I think anybody thinking of buying one should get out and have a look at one. If leica can't sell a lot of these something is seriously wrong. But I will think about posting a pic at some stage.
