raizans Posted September 9, 2009 Share #41 Posted September 9, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) that corner has posed a problem ever since the m4. replacing the rewind knob with a tilted rewind crank broke up the harmony of the lines. then the m6ttl increased the height of the top plate, throwing the proportions out of whack. when film was out of the picture, the designers just filled in the gap all the way, and the corner looks a little too big on the m8/m8.2. hence the step. while this is an improvement, i don't think it's the ideal solution. because the step is even with the other side of the top plate, there is now a conspicuous separation between the viewfinder/rangefinder assembly and the rest of the top plate, like it had been grafted on. the lines don't flow anymore and it still looks unbalanced. i think the best thing to do is lower the height of the top plate and fill the gap all the way. it would be nice if they got rid of the blue dot, too. while we're at it, make the red dot black like on the m8.2.
