Now I understand why his site has been quiet lately. And, it seems a new server is in place to handle the expected traffic. So, one benefit of the Leica news may be that more people subscribe to this deserving site. I'm not affiliated, just an appreciative subscriber. In addition to this Reid Reviews work I also have the shooting I do for clients and that gets most intense in the summer and early fall. Leica would be smart to avail you with these items, so that the rest of us may get a nice opinion on their performance. Unless, naturally, Sean is really getting ready to post a exciting in-depth review of a yet un-announced 3.2 megapix iPhone camera. ( which COULD be accounced on sep 9 ) Guys, if you don't already have a subscription to reidreviews.com get one.! its by far the best un-biased review site for rangefinder users anywhere. when ever you don't know what to think about a 28mm lens, Sean puts numbers on what you might see, and he compare it very dryly to alternative lenses, giving you some clear direction for "bang for your buck" and if you don't mind spending for the little extra quality... thompsonkirk Posted September 7, 2009 Share #11 Posted September 7, 2009 I think there's going to be even more work to do, testing lenses on FF instead of 1.33 sensors. Many of us, when we shifted from Canon's 1.5 crop factor to FF 5D, found that Canon's lenses, not the sensor, were now a major limiting condition – especially in corner sharpness. Now this comes up all over again for CV & even Leica lenses on M9 - with soft corners no longer conveniently hidden by the crop factor. I'm reminded that when I used an M4, I tried a 28mm CV & found its corners disturbingly mushy. Now that I've been working with the M8's 1.33 crop factor, I've felt free to use older Leitz lenses, & also CVs. I wonder how the CV line is going to look if/when retested on full-frame digital. I will make my decision about M9 based on Sean's report how the extra 44% are covered by the M-mount glass. 44/56=79/100. Hopefully the M9 is not 79% more expensive. Guest Posted September 7, 2009 Share #16 Posted September 7, 2009 I think the sooner Sean gets an M9 the better.We will all then have a realistic and factual appraisal of the camera.The M9 if the rumours are true will cost double the sell off price of an M8 so from my point of view I want to know what I am getting before I part with the money. The M9 might finally be something worth getting..... more than interesting And, of course, the M8 and M8.2 become much cheaper and can get people into the Leica honey trap!!
