erlingmm Posted September 6, 2009 Share #1 Posted September 6, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) M8 seems to be out of the Leica product range by now. I think Leica would benefit from more options, and cameras that can sell more M lenses. I think it might come back as a M8.3 when the early adopters have jumped to the M9, and the UV/IR problem is solved also for a 1,33/M8 sensor. Price halfway between X1 and M9. Advertisement Posted September 6, 2009 Posted September 6, 2009 Hi erlingmm, Take a look here M8 dead, or resurrection?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Marty Posted September 6, 2009 Share #2 Posted September 6, 2009 Somehow I don't think a reduced-sensor M9 would be much cheaper, certainly not between X1 and M9 which will probably amount to about half the M9 anyway. And with the M already being minimal, there is not much else to set them apart... More importantly, using M lenses is going to be expensive, period. The body is not going to make a big difference. As micro43 evolves and matures, that will be the place to find cheaper practical compact alternatives that accept M lenses, if you already have them. bill Posted September 6, 2009 Share #3 Posted September 6, 2009 The evolutionary dead-end is going the way of the dodo. Celebrate, don't mourn. Regards, Bill
