SJP Posted September 6, 2009 Share #1 Posted September 6, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Is there any panorama making software that anyone can recommend to stitch existing jpegs and that allows plenty of post-tweaking. Freeware if possible as it is not something I do often enough to merit spending (a lot of) money on. I have three pics that I want to stitch together that have eluded my attempts with "Photofit Harmony (trial)" and "Panorama Maker 3.0" (came with my Nikon Coolpix 4500 several years ago)

ChrisC Posted September 6, 2009 Share #2 Posted September 6, 2009 ....I have three pics that I want to stitch together.... Stephen - The topic of panoramas is a fairly healthy one within the M8 Forum. Others will give recommendations for software, but it is only three images to make one panorama so it begs the question; do you have Photoshop?. If you do I would stitch them in Photoshop by hand if it is an appropriate sort of image [e.g. one without too many urban straight lines which could lead to a 'Chevron' angular effect when the three Photoshop layers are blended. Blending does not require great skill, if you need a little assistance say so. By the way, I am currently working this way with multi-row panoramas from J-pegs, it's my way of getting 'working roughs' [which are reference images] without the preciousness of working with full sized RAW conversions [i shoot RAW + Jpeg]. .............. SJP Posted September 6, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted September 6, 2009 Hi Chris Sorry don't use/have Photoshop as yet These are the three images http://spicken59.googlepages.com/L1008812.jpg http://spicken59.googlepages.com/L1008813.jpg http://spicken59.googlepages.com/L1008814.jpg Using the first two I want to get the basketball player in the panorama twice, this requires cropping most of the right side of photo #12. Photo no #14 shows the ball nearly at the net/board and has very little overlap with no #13 and the perpective may nead some tweaking. So the final panorama should show 2x the player and 3x the ball. The lack of overlap is the main problem for the automatic programs I have tried so far.
veraikon Posted September 6, 2009 Share #4 Posted September 6, 2009 I can recommend hugin (freeware)
SJP Posted September 7, 2009 Author Share #5 Posted September 7, 2009 Thanks!! Hugin seem to be able to do the trick, although I am still struggling with the GUI. Not very intuitive. I think I will need to study it in some detail before I can really get it to do what I want.
