Finnkare Posted September 3, 2009 Share #1 Posted September 3, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've been thinking if the 1,15x viewfinder magnifier (the third party one, you know) will help on shooting with both eyes open on the M3, since the magnification becomes almost excactly 1. On the other hand, it might leave the 50mm frame outside and/or dim the finder a bit. Experience, anyone?
Advertisement Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 Hi Finnkare, Take a look here Anyone using the 1,15x viewfinder magnifier on an M3?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
John Maio Posted September 5, 2009 Share #2 Posted September 5, 2009 Not on the M3, but I use one on the M7 when the 90mm f/2 ASPH Summicron is mounted. It really helps focus. My eyes aren't what they were
garygsandhu Posted September 6, 2009 Share #3 Posted September 6, 2009 Ok, I just tried it: I have to mash my eye in to see the 50mm framelime -- I prefer both eyes open without the magnifier. It's not noticeably dimmer. The 90 and 135 framelines look great with the magnifier.
wookchang Posted September 8, 2009 Share #4 Posted September 8, 2009 I use a 1.15 Magnifier made by MS-Optics, Japan on my M3. It is O.K., and you will need some time to get used to it. It's price is about half of the Leica magnifier, and you get a diopter for free. For a diopter (that you can adjust from +0.5 to -3.0) is built into the magnifier. john_s Posted September 12, 2009 Share #6 Posted September 12, 2009 I don't have an M3, but I use the 1.15 MS-Mag unit on a standard M6 (0.72 viewfinder). I can see all of the 35mm frame (but only just) without moving my eye around. I can see all parts of the 28mm frame, but not all at the same time. I have to move my eye around, and can only see two of the 28mm frame lines at a time. I find it useable with the 28, but it does depend on how you like to frame, I suppose.
