Did you know that when Panasonic unveiled the camera recently, they presented it as being a camera for "the ladies who don't want to carry around a big bulky DSLR"?

If that is Panasonics target group, then it would have been wise of them to have put a little more efford into the design of the GF1. Now I'm afraid for them that these ladies wil choose the Olympus E-P1 above the Panasonic GF1 for it being much more of a nicely designed fashionable article than the ugly GF1.

The EVF would, of course, reflect the FOV's of EVERY lens. I was just thinking about the the 20mm f 1.7. And all the other stuff (shutter, aperture, flash ready etc. etc.) would be available in the EVF as well but as a general finder the Voightlander finder would still work for a sharper clearer view and, most significantly, framing, much like the finder of an M6, 7, 8 (and 9?) would.

I use the Panasonic viewfinder (24mm FF) for my D-lux3 (widest angle) and Konica 60mm FF (from Hexanon 60) for its long end.

I also use Olympus 34mm VF (FF) for the E-P1 17mm lens. This one should also cover the 20mm Panasonic lens FOV-outside its framelines and to the rims it looks like it's a 40mm FF VF. So I'm ready.

But I still prefer the incredible G1 EVF.

Jaak:

My wife found it here:

?????????????

Scroll down to the bottom rectangle. The lady holding the GF1 (white version with black lens, probably middle row on the left) is the clip of Panasonic introducing the camera. You'll get some commercials first and then comes the presentation. All in Japanese of course...

There are some nice shots of the innards and of the camera working.

And then there's this ad which speaks for itself:

It's just marketing for the Japanese market where young, single women (so called OL-"aw-aeru"-office ladies) have large disposable income. All they spend their money on is clothes, cosmetics, holidays, cute things-like small, colorful cameras fitting their LV bags.
