arthurpreston Posted September 1, 2009 Share #1 Posted September 1, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) M8, 50mm f/2.0 - But the fun thing is the ton of information available on the web regarding Mr. (or Ms.?) Lilliput. Do any of you have any first-hand knowledge of the origin, particularly what "N.P." stands for, and why the name "Lilliput"? It's almost like a cult out there, and I'm sure that Leica users, who deal only in factual information, would have sound, indisputable knowledge. storybrown Posted September 10, 2009 Share #3 Posted September 10, 2009 As you say, there's plenty on the net - Japanese, late 30s -- first toy robot -- big hit after the war, &c. I don't know anything about it. In particular, I don't know what the NP might stand or refer to, or the number, either. The "Lilliput" prolly refers to the isle where the man Gulliver landed -- among "little people" -- and found himself a giant. Compared to human buyers (adult or children), the robot is Lilliputian. This is merely a guess, but it goes without saying that, since it is posted on the Leica Forum, it is doubtless accurate . . .
