I am having on of those lazy days and whilst sitting at my desk I picked up my M8. I took a picture fully on manual 1/125th 320 no comp, and then set the camera up fully on auto. I have a very interesting result and I do not know the reason. I focussed on the same point in each and did not move from my desk. The first picture is MUCH warmer than the second which is cooler. Does this apparent change in white balance happen in Auto or is it an annomaly? First picture is the manual one and you can see the forum on my PC! In any event when the camera is set to AWB it make it best guess as to what the WB should be and that can and will change shot to shot even of the same subject in what we think is the same lighting. scaryink Posted August 26, 2009 Share #8 Posted August 26, 2009 This is precisely what happens with my kit in a totally controlled environment. I was shooting photos in my office. No outside light was influencing the shot. I took a number of shots on a tripod in the same position. The white balance varies widely and is not consistent. When I posted here, there were no responses that provided any insight. The only comments were "do you have the latest sf release? - Yes" and" I have never had this issue. " Last night I was shooting in my house with only lamp illumination and the white balance on auto. The color was so far off as to be surrealistic. The majority of the image was of a white stuffed animal - pure white - and it was rendered close to naples yellow. I think if balanced color out of the kit is what you want, it must be manual. Jamie Roberts Posted August 26, 2009 Share #11 Posted August 26, 2009 There is no difference at all between adjusting C1 or LR for global or batch white balance adjustments. Just set your WB to one setting if the variance bothers you. It doesn't mean a passing cloud won't change the color of the light, and in either program you will need to adjust...
