Let's put this in simple terms if the S2 does not have a convenient mirror lock up . I won't buy it. ...............

I looked in on this forum a few weeks ago and you were saying that you would not be in the market for an S2 because of the price (and a load of other stuff). Have I missed something? It's not like you to blow hot and cold.

You using any Leica equipment at the moment?

I'm in the market all the time that would provide a better mouse trap always have and always will but this I am not certain is it until all the check marks are checked for me but certainly want to explore it's possibilities. Just like if i stopped looking at pretty women walking by , if i ever did that than just toss me in a coffin and call it a day. Right now at this moment it is not a buy until I get my hands on it and can test it , simply as that. I tested many MF solutions before I went with Phase One and at these prices your nuts if you don't. I also have to justify these costs which for me is at least 30k cash minimum in hand and selling my gear. That's a pretty tall order given this economy and I am doing nothing until next year. Simply ROI interest there, this is business and not a play toy. For you maybe but me it has to make real money or it does not go into service. Business 101

Also please tell me what difference it makes if I own any Leica gear. Does that make me a better shooter or something. The answer is a flat out no, all sold to go MF. Pete do us all a favor go bait someone that will actually bite.

BTW a Mirror lockup is one of the most used features in MF and if it is not a convenient operation and quick to use than there is no chance anyone would buy it that is shooting MF today. Not many would give up their current bodies if the S2 is not convenient and fast

The best implementation of MLU that I have seen was on the Rollei 6006 and 6008 cameras. Besides having a mirror pre-release on the body and a MLU on the body for multiple exposures, there was a separate mirror pre-release on the cable release. Another cable release had a "multi-single" switch along with the mirror lockup. With that remote, one could set it to "multi", press a button to raise the mirror, and then press the shutter release button on the remote as many times as you wanted. When you were done, you moved the switch back to single and the mirror came down. I'd love those features on any remote control for any camera.

It is my understanding that some digital backs now have a multiple exposure capability where the sensor stays on but the shutter is activated repeatedly to build up the exposure - just like we could do on film. I've really missed this feature on digital. I used to use it for multiple strobe pops, to build up fireworks in a shot without overexposing the ambient, car light trails, etc.

I was just wondering if you were beta-testing the M9.
