jaymz007 Posted August 25, 2009 Share #1 Posted August 25, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just ordered the SF 58 flash and I am wondering will the pocket wizard work with this flash with full TTL? Also How would I make a two or three flash setup and be able to control all the flashes? BTW I am using a M8. Thanks James

BTW I am using a M8. Thanks James No. The new Pocket Wizard Flex TT1s and TT5s only work with Canon and (soon) Nikon TTL systems. They wouldn't even trigger on an M8. The older Pocket Wizard Plus IIs can be used on the M8 as they only use the X sysnc, but don't support TTL on any system. These are made for studio strobe triggering. swamiji Posted August 25, 2009 Share #4 Posted August 25, 2009 My dealer believes that the Pocket Wizard for Nikon will work, as the Nikon extension cable works. Since the pinouts are the same. I will test when it arrives.

BTW I am using a M8. Thanks James I would be very interested to hear if the new Pocket Wizards for Nikon would work on an M8. Regarding the second of the two questions above, you would certainly be able to make a two or three flash setup work in manual mode but not if your SF 58 was set to TTL mode. In TTL mode your SF 58's preflash would likely set off your slave flashes which would not then be ready in time to fire for the main flash when the shutter opens. GlennB Posted August 27, 2009 Share #6 Posted August 27, 2009 James, I just glanced at the instruction manual posted on Leica's web site and it seems the SF 58 has a built-in slave sensor, but it seems it only works in auto or manual modes. You would have to use a light meter to set up your strobes or make test shots and adjust from there.
jaymz007 Posted August 28, 2009 Author Share #7 Posted August 28, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks again everyone This is why LUF is the best. I also received my sf 58 today. I am going to go through some testing and see what I can and cannot do with this. Jaymz
