Sorry for the cryptic title but I was afraid many could not read this post after clicking the thread title.

AmI the only one. Mac OS X. I also emptied my cache.

my R6.2. I had sent it to Don approximately 4 weeks ago and it was shipped out this morning. Don views camera service in two ways. A 3/4 service or a full blown 100% going over. Mine was a 3/4 for $100.00 USD. Return shipping extra. We chatted on the phone as to what he found and it was basically some cleaning and new oil and a few minor things. Now that's the way a repair service should operate, regardless of country. Don Goldberg is considered probably the finest Leica R and M service in the country.

He has had a pair of my cameras for three months, and doesn't answer emails. Sounds like selective service.

...spot the difference.

Steve, try picking up the 'phone. Many of these small operations don't have a good track record with email.

Regards,

Bill

In a very long thread on another forum a lot of people chipped in with their experiences and advice. DAG apparently has a waiting list of over 200 items, and I for one have reluctantly stopped sending him stuff. Don is a wonderful man, does incredible work, but it can take a very, very long time. It got to the point where the wait was too long and I now have a new Leica tech.

I love Don's work, too. But the wait is a problem. Peter --- who are you using now? I have a summilux I want to send for a cleaning, etc..

Thomas I've used Steve Choi at Steve's Camera Service Center. My last CLA there was a Wetzlar 35mm Summicron v.1 and he did a very good job and the turnaround was 3 weeks. Recently there were one or two posts about him in the long thread over at RFF about Don, not all of them complimentary. However my own experience with Steve has been good.

I never email any service questions; it's always a phone call. I've never had problems with Don. He's human and I believe DAG is still a one man operation. That's not to say others may have not an issue, just that he's always done right by me.

It probably wouldn't hurt to establish a list of high-end, experienced, and trained Leica repair sources here on the L-Forum to be easily available including what their specialties may be - screw-mount, M, R, lenses, etc.so it would be easier to find.
