BTMarcais Posted August 25, 2009 Share #3 Posted August 25, 2009 I use a Metz 34 CS-2. A little bit bigger than the 20 C-2, but definitely more power when you need it, and still in a nice compact package. As a bonus, the silver color on the front of the flash comes amazingly close to matching the chrome on my M3... -Brian
lars_bergquist Posted August 30, 2009 Share #4 Posted August 30, 2009 The flash terminals on M3 and M2 cameras (and M1 and MD) were not exactly standard. They just may work with the cable of your flash. If not, some manufacturers like Hama did make adapters. Or you may even find one in some old mom and pop camera store. The old man from the Age of Flashbulbs I didn't bother to mention this because the OP was seeking a replacement for an existing flash so presumably already has the adapter.. Guest leicaphotos Posted September 4, 2009 Share #6 Posted September 4, 2009 with a $5 extra adapter, you can make the hotshoe on your CTOOM flash bracket a real live hotshoe and use the sf20 -- that's one trick i did
lars_bergquist Posted September 5, 2009 Share #7 Posted September 5, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Yes! Why the devil cannot someone, at least Leica, make us a workable flash bracket to work with a 'system' cord, one that has a 'cold' shoe on top of the camera-side connector? That way we could use flash with lenses with a larger angle of view than 28mm/35 format. Lots of modern flashes cover even greater angles even without bounce. Such a cord would work hand-held too, without the bracket. And with cameras later than the M2, too. The old man from the Dark Ages
MPerson Posted September 5, 2009 Share #8 Posted September 5, 2009 Mecablitz 20 C-2: small, light, simple, sync cable. .... and bounce head! I rarely use flash but, when I do, I use the 20 C-2 more than the SF24D.
